ciSeries systems feature the proprietary SmartClean™ printhead maintenance operation. Natural ink elements are used to clean the printhead eliminating the use of make-up or solvent solutions providing a more efficient and cleaner start-up operation.

SmartClean™ is designed to provide clean and effortless start-up of a printer ensuring immediate high quality print and significantly reduced downtime by eliminating the daily requirement for manual printhead cleaning. The system operates by activating ink and vacuum solenoids in a set sequence. Delivering ink to the nozzle and then removing with vacuum. When the wet ink comes in contact with dried ink particles, the dried ink dissolves into solution. By repeating this sequence several times the printhead is clean and free of any blockages before printing begins.
