Metal Marker FactSheet
BRITINK® Metal Markers provide a simple, cost effective, solution for marking metals and other non-porous materials.
The metal marker produces a weather-proof, bright, opaque mark on metals and most non-porous and semi-porous surfaces. The unique RNM ink penetrates grease, oil and rust to give a weatherproof mark which will withstand many kinds of metal processing.
Components
The marker comprises a flexible plastic container with a ball valve writing head. Ink flow is controlled by gently squeezing the container, allowing the marker to be used at any angle, including upside-down.
Two sizes of writing heads are available:
- Standard which produces a line width of 2.5mm
- Toughpoint (heavy duty) producing a 4.0mm wide line
Refillable
When empty, the markers can be refilled using our BRITINK® RNM ink. The individual components (bottle and nozzles) can also be purchased separately, giving you a more cost effective solution.
Colours
The metal markers are available in a range of 13 standard colours: Black, Blue, Brown, Green, Grey, Light Blue, Light Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White and Yellow. We can, however, manufacture ink to match any shade you require. Please call us for further details.
Applications
BRITINK® metal markers are very versatile and will mark painted, coated and even corroded
metals. In most cases, there is no need for the metal surface to be cleaned prior to marking
as the ink is designed to penetrate thin layers of grease or oil that may be present on the
metal being marked.
As the name suggests, the metal marker was originally developed to mark metal.
However, it can also be used on almost any non-porous surface such as rigid
plastics, concrete and even wood.
Common applications include metal pipes, steel
girders, metal and plastic drums, painted
surfaces, wood, stone,
asphalt and similar materials.
Cleaners and Thinners
We recommend using BRITINK® Cleaner to remove RNM ink.
BRITINK® RNM Thinner can be used to replace solvent lost through evaporation, thereby restoring the ink to its original viscosity.
