Citronix Launches SmartClean

Citronix has introduced its unique SmartClean printhead maintenance feature to the entire range of ciSeries Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printers.

Recently introduced to all Citronix CIJ printers, SmartClean is designed to provide clean and effortless start-up of a printer ensuring immediate high quality print and significantly reduced downtime by eliminating the requirement for manual printhead cleaning.

Different to many other CIJ printers, the proprietary SmartClean printhead maintenance operation uses natural ink elements to clean the printhead eliminating the use of make-up or solvent solutions, as a result providing a more efficient and cleaner start-up operation.

The system operates by activating ink and vacuum solenoids in a set sequence. Ink is fed onto the top of the nozzle allowing the solvent in the ink to dissolve the dried ink. The jet is then de-activated and the vacuum solenoid activated which removes ink and some blockage from the nozzle. By repeating this sequence a number of times it allows dried ink to “melt” back into the solution ensuring that the printhead is clean and free of any blockages before printing commences.
