£28,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Needham Laser Technologies Limited is a specialist in the supply, installation and support of industrial laser marking and engraving systems in the UK. Due to recent growth, we are looking for a Electronics Engineer to assist and test to component level and to support our exciting future plans.

This role provides a wonderful opportunity to become an integral member of our technical team and to contribute to the long-term development and success of the company.

Your Role:


This role will be based at our technical headquarters in Whitchurch Shropshire, although occasional travel to other sites may be required.


Technical & Sales Support (At Base)

  • Some assembly, mainly product testing of prototypes during the new product development process
  • Product testing, fault-finding and diagnosis will be down to component level (rather than just board level) and you will be working from schematics
  • This will generally be on new prototypes, but may be on customer rejections to assist the service department
  • Be able to work with, and escalate, any issues. Propose and advise the necessary changes to rectify (i.e. design, manufacturing, assembly, quality-related issue)
  • Some embedded C programming, mostly fixes to current product but could be some development of new products
  • PCB schematics and board layout changes and new designs using CAD


About you:

  • Strong practical electronics background (analogue and digital)
  • Experienced gained within a product development + test environment
  • Can read schematics and use them to test, fault-find and diagnose issues with units
  • Competent with hand tools for soldering, testing (i.e. multi-meters, oscilloscopes) and product assembly
  • Understanding of mains voltage products advantageous
  • Some C programming experience particularly with 8-bit PIC devices beneficial
  • Experience entering designs into a CAD package
  • We don’t mind your educational background in electronics. It might be ONC/HNC, or maybe you have been to University and gained a B.Eng
